The mission of the Longview Police Department Canine Unit is to assist patrol in the apprehension of criminal suspects, the search and rescue of missing or endangered persons, and the search for and seizure of illegal narcotics. The police canine is a tool to be used in combination with other police resources to serve the needs of our community.

The Canine Unit is comprised of 2 canines. Each canine and its handler participates in an ongoing training and certification program designed to meet the specific purposes of the team.
