District C - Beat 50 - Officer M. Harrod

Harrod, Michael W.

 

Officer Mike Harrod was born in Dallas, TX.  He started his police career in 1975 when he joined the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman.  He served both stateside and in Germany.  After receiving his     Honorable Discharge in 1978, Officer Harrod joined the Dallas police Department and went through the police academy there.  He worked as a Reserve  Police Officer until  he transferred to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.  He worked in the   Dallas County Jail until 1979.  From there he worked as a deputy for the Collin County Sheriff’s Department.  Officer Harrod joined the Longview Police Department in 1981.  He has worked in the patrol and traffic divisions, has been a Uniform Crime Scene Investigator, a Field Training Officer. and a K-9 unit officer.  He is a member of the Bicycle Unit and the Police Honor Guard.   His duties include the implementation of neighborhood improvement projects specific to Beat 50, including Crime Watch and COP programs, city park safety patrols, and neighborhood revitalization support.
